Intermittent closures on Interstate 5 (I-5) are scheduled for Sunday as construction continues for the Mid-Coast Trolley Extension Project, Caltrans said in a statement.
The I-5 off ramp to eastbound Balboa Avenue will be closed from 3 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Motorists will be detoured in advance of the closure to the northbound I-5 exit at Clairemont Drive/Mission Bay Drive.
Caltrans also stated all north and southbound lanes on the I-5 near Balboa Avenue will be closed several times for about 10 minutes from 6 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., although closure times may be longer as needed for public safety.
Motorists are reminded to be “work zone alert” and slow down when nearing construction areas.
Construction for the Mid-Coast Trolley Project began in 2016, and will extend the Blue Line service from Old Town up to the University City area. Service is anticipated to run in 2021, according to Caltrans.
