San Diego County is set to thank a news icon for decades of hard work.
The journalist: NBCSanDiego's Marty Levin, whose tenure is coming to an end on May 26.
County Supervisors Dianne Jacob and Greg Cox, presented Levin with a proclamation recently that will officially make next Wednesday, May 26, Marty Levin Day in San Diego County.
Levin, who has been in television for 38 years, first started working at the station in 1987.
"You are one of the institutions that we have in San Diego," Cox said. "Your leadership over the last ... 23 years I think you have been in San Diego, has been exemplary."
Levin has been awarded more than a dozen Emmys from the National Academy of Arts and Sciences and three Golden Mikes from the Radio and Television News Association of Southern California. He has also been recognized by many organizations for his community efforts, including Peacemakers, the Association of Fundraising Professionals and San Diego Magazine.
