Fire Reported in Valencia Park

San Diego Fire-Rescue crews entered a house fire in Valencia Park searching for a possible victim with a "pretty extensive" fire in the attic above, officials said.

Seven different units were dispatched to 5321 Encina Dr just before 11 a.m. for a fire reported inside a single family home.

Crews were told a victim was working to extinguish the fire inside the home. While they went looking for the victim, they had "fire over their heads," one battalion chief told NBC 7.

The person believed to be inside the home was not there at the time the fire started.

Three people were in need of a place to stay. The San Diego Chapter of the American Red Cross was helping to find housing.
