Police are investigating a collision between a pedestrian and a driver who ran a red light in Miramar Ranch North Thursday morning.
The pedestrian, a 44-year-old female, was struck by a 4-door Mazda at around 8:30 a.m. as she crossed the 11600 block of Scripps Poway Parkway in the crosswalk southbound from Angelique Street, according to the San Diego Police Department (SDPD).
Eastbound traffic on Scripps Poway Parkway at Springbrook Drive was closed following the accident as crews investigated the collision. Lanes were reopened at around 1.p.m.
Police say the driver, a 42-year-old female, stayed at the scene and was released just before 1 p.m.
The victim was transported to Scripps La Jolla Hospital where she is being treated for six fractured vertebrae and a broken rib.
