A red flag warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) for parts of San Diego County this weekend expired Saturday evening.
The red flag warning began at noon Friday and remained in effect until 6 p.m. Saturday.
Amid the warning, multiple small fires burned several acres across the county.
Meteorologists predicted strong winds, low humidity and warm temperatures, ideal conditions for wildfires.
"What we're seeing now is the reversal of pressure," NBC 7 meteorologist Dagmar Midcap said. "That means the high pressure set up over the deserts is giving us hot, dry, windy conditions."
On Thursday, brush fires burned approximately 40 acres in the East County.
Cal Fire asked that people use caution while working outside during the red flag warning. Also, people were encouraged to prepare emergency kits, complete with flashlights, a portable radio and first aid items.
