A brush burned near San Diego State University Monday afternoon, according to fire officials.
The quarter-acre fire started around 4 p.m. along eastbound Interstate 8 near the College Avenue exit. Lanes 1 and 2 were closed as smoke affected those lanes of traffic.
Firefighters controlled the blaze shortly before 4:30 p.m.
SigAlert has issued a warning that traffic could be delayed up to an hour.
No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.
