Woman Intentionally Runs Over Victim With SUV

The incident happened after a fight between two women in Lakeside

A woman was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder Wednesday afternoon after allegedly running over another woman with her car -- intentionally -- in Lakeside.

Sheriffs said the incident happened around 3:45 p.m. on the 11300 block of El Nopal.

According to authorities, two women were involved in an altercation when one of the women, 36-year-old suspect Beverly Gligo, got into her SUV and ran over the other woman on purpose.

Witnesses told deputies Gligo drove her car forward and hit the victim.

Sheriffs said Gligo then tried to flee the scene, but her SUV became wedged between a tree and a fencepost and she was unable to leave.

Deputies detained her at the scene.

Authorities said Gligo had her two young children -- a toddler and an infant – inside the car during the alleged incident.

Gligo was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital after complaining of pain from the fight and was later booked into Las Colinas Detention Facility on one count of attempted murder and felony child endangerment, according to authorities.

The victim was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

It is still unclear how or if these women knew each other or why they were fighting in the first place.

Sheriffs said Gligo’s mother took custody of the children following her arrest.
