North County Man Dies in San Ysidro Stabbing

A North County man died Thursday after he was discovered with multiple stab wounds just north of the U.S- Mexico border.

Two men on their way to work discovered the man at 5:45 a.m. on a sidewalk on the 300 block of Sycamore Road in San Ysidro, according to SDPD Homicide Lt. Manuel Del Toro. He had been stabbed several times.

San Diego Police and San Diego Fire-Rescue crews arrived to the scene on Sycamore Road, west of Interstate 5 and less than two miles north of the San Ysidro Port of Entry.

Emergency personnel treated the man but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Del Toro did not release the victim's name because his family has not been notified, but said he is approximately 25-years old and connected to an address in the North County. He was not aware of the victim’s connection to the community where he was found.

According to SDPD, detectives found possible evidence extended up to Cesar Chavez Park.

β€œThere are some articles of clothing we’re investigating which may or may not be related to our victim or our suspects,” Del Toro said.

Officials are collecting witness statements and evidence at the scene.

No arrests have been made.
