The much-discussed, frequently forecast storm finally arrives in San Diego County.
Rain, though not much of it fell Thursday and overnight and is expected to continue Friday morning.
The weekend is looking a bit unsettled as a broad trough of low pressure remains stalled off the coast. With no organized, tightly packed lows or cold fronts expected to make their way across the region, all we're left with is "junk weather," which means partly cloudy, cool, breezy and an off-and-on threat of showers.
We may see one system reorganize and roll through on Monday or Tuesday, but there are no promises that it will do so, so keep an umbrella with you just in case. However, bundle up for typical January temperatures in the 60s, with highs dropping into the 50s by Monday.
Even without the promise of substantial wet weather west of the mountains, there should be enough moisture passing over -- accompanied by cold temperatures -- for at least a little snow in the higher peaks above 5,000 feet. This likely won't arrive until Sunday but should stick around through Tuesday. As much as a foot of snow or more could fall at Southern California ski resorts at both Big Bear and Wrightwood.
