Police Looking For Hit-and-Run Suspect

San Diego police are looking for the driver of a dark-colored utility van that struck a pedestrian in the 4600-block of Pacific Highway on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011.

Investigators said John Bowers, 29, was walking westbound across Pacific Highway at about 10:00 p.m. when he was struck by a car. The driver of the car got out to help him and to try to keep other cars from hitting him when he was struck a second time by the driver of the van, officers said.

The driver of the van initially stopped investigators said, but then left without waiting for police to arrive.

The driver of the van is described as a Hispanic or Filipino male, 40 - 50 years old, with dark hair, a bushy mustache and bushy eyebrows.

Bowers died from his injuries two days later.
