Pedestrian Suffers Significant Head Injuries in Sherman Heights Hit-and-Run Crash

A pedestrian was taken to the hospital with serious injuries Wednesday after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Sherman Heights, police said. 

The 70-year-old man got off a bus and was crossing Market Street when he was struck by a car near the intersection of 25th and Market Street just before 6 a.m., according to the San Diego Police Department.

The driver, who was believed to be in a cream-colored older model sedan, took off after the crash. A suspect was still not in custody Wednesday afternoon, police said. 

The pedestrian suffered significant injuries to his head, a broken arm and two broken legs. He was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, SDPD said. He was expected to survive.
