A Sprinter train struck a pedestrian on Friday afternoon, according to the sheriff's department.
The incident happened just before 3 p.m. at West Mission Road and North Pacific Street in San Marcos.
The pedestrian died at the scene.
Sprinter traffic was temporarily shut down in both directions.
