Snack Shack Burglars Leave Behind Trail of Wrappers

Discarded snack wrapper evidence led police to a group of suspects who burglarized a La Mesa concession stand

A little league snack shack in La Mesa was burglarized late Thursday night but the snacking bandits didn’t quite cover their tracks.

According to police, the Rolando Park concession stand in the 6600 block of Vigo Drive was targeted around 11:53 p.m. by a group of several suspects.

When officers got to the area, the suspects had already fled the scene but police could tell the burglars were somewhere nearby.

Upon investigation of the area, police discovered evidence – including a trail of discarded snack wrappers – indicating the direction the suspects had taken on foot.

According to Sgt. Colin Atwood of the La Mesa Police Department, the trail of snacks coming from the stand led police up 68th Street.

A short time later, officers found additional similar candy wrappers around a parked vehicle nearby in the 4600 block of Judson Way.

Police checked the home where the car was parked and found the owner of the vehicle as well as stolen property, including a cash register, that allegedly came from the Rolando Park little league snack shack.

Officers arrested one male suspect and three females, including a juvenile, in connection with the heist. They were booked into San Diego County Jail, Las Colinas and Juvenile Hall, respectively.
