Group in Clown Costumes Accused of Stabbing Skateboarder: SDPD

The alleged attack happened just before 9 p.m. Friday in San Diego’s College Area

A group of unknown suspects clad in clown costumes allegedly attacked a skateboarder in the College Area Friday night, stabbing him multiple times, the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) said.

SDPD Officer Robert Heims said police learned of the incident after the stabbing victim showed up at a local hospital.

At first the man was resistant to tell police what happened, as he had warrants out for his arrest and was carrying a pellet gun, police said. The victim told police he was riding his skateboard just before 9 p.m. when he got into an argument with someone across the street.

As the victim began to ride away on his skateboard, he told police four people in clown costumes assaulted him. He gave no further details to investigators, Heims confirmed.

The victim suffered a deep wound to his left cheek, a wound to the back of his right shoulder and two stab wounds to his stomach. He is expected to survive, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.

With the nationwide trend of creepy clown costumes, several local police departments offered some tips earlier this month to those seeking to dress up in clown outfits on Halloween.
