Army Band's Instruments Stolen Overnight

Show must go on for 300th Army Band, according to its Facebook page

Musical instruments belonging to a U.S. army band were stolen overnight from a U-Haul truck in Old Town, San Diego police said Wednesday.

The truck was parked in front of a Meals on Wheels center at 2254 San Diego Ave.

The instruments belonged to the 300th Army band, who have a Wednesday evening performance in Balboa Park.

A high-ranking officer instructed band members on scene not to speak about the incident, but according to the band's Facebook page, it still plans to perform:

We are excited to play for our home state crowd. We're gonna rock San Diego! Spreckels Organ Pavilion, 6:15pm.

Shortly before 4 p.m., a group admin wrote, "We are in good spirits! The band is ready to get the job done and do it in style"

The number of stolen instruments and their estimated value were not available.
