A 17-year-old who allegedly made videos of himself abusing his family dog and then posted the videos on a social media site now faces charges of animal cruelty, the LA County District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday.
The 2-year-old Weimaraner that was allegedly abused has been removed from the home by animal control officers. He has been renamed “Charlie” and has been adopted.
"The link between cruelty to animals and cruelty toward humans is well documented. The ASPCA cites one study which reveals violent offenders incarcerated in a maximum security prison were significantly more likely than nonviolent offenders to have committed childhood acts of cruelty toward pets," the LA County Department of Animal Care and Control said in a statement.
