Wanted: Airport Art

If you’re a local artist or have an interesting collection, the San Diego International Airport Art Program is looking for you.

Passengers that have spent more than their share of time at our airport may have noticed the art hanging in the Commuter Terminal as well as in Terminal 2.

Two-dimensional pieces as well as interactive pieces are on display as part of the airport's Cultural Exhibits Program. The program, that's been running for 10 years now, is free and available to local, regional, and international cultural organizations, as well as individual artists and collectors who have art and artifacts of public interest with artistic merit, cultural significance or educational value.

An open call for exhibits submittal deadline is Friday, May 8 but don’t fear – they accept applications year-round through their website.

A panel reviews the submissions and assigns each a start date that could last up to six months. Exhibits can be scheduled up to three years in advance.
