December Nights in Balboa Park is just days away. The Canopy of Lights in front of the Museum of Art San Diego was lighted Tuesday night by Mayor Jerry Sanders and other community leaders.
SDG&E sponsored the lights, bringing in more than 28,000 LED lights for the canopy and tree.
Mayor Sanders thanked SDG&E for their ongoing sponsorship of one of the city's most treasured community events. The company is offering free LED holiday lighting in exchange for your old incandescent strands while supplies last. You can find them in front of the Prado at 5pm on Friday. Bring a valid California ID or your SDG&E bill to participate.
On Wednesday, tents were going up in the Cascades.
Thousands of people are expected to enjoy the festival on December 5 and 6 in Balboa Park. Visit Balboa Park.org for a list of the activities.
