Lakers C Bynum out 8-12 weeks

El Segundo, CA (Sports Network) - Los Angeles Lakerscenter Andrew Bynum will miss between 8-to-12 weeks after an MRI exam on his right knee showed a tear of the medial collateral ligament on Monday.

Bynum sustained the injury in Saturday's win over the Memphis Grizzlies, needing help to leave the court with 6:55 to play in the first quarter. He scored seven of the Lakers' first 13 points in five minutes of action before exiting.

The 21-year-old Bynum is averaging 14.0 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.87 blocked shots in 46 games this season for the Lakers, who sit atop the Western Conference.

The 7-footer was also forced to miss the entire second half of last season and the playoffs after suffering a partially dislocated kneecap last January -- also against Memphis.
