Sounds Like San Diego: June 15

Brownout Pubic Enemy Shoot

This has been a crazy awesome week for music in San Diego, but it really heats up this weekend. Just a few short weeks ago we were bidding farewell to Lestat's, but the people spoke and the owner had a change of heart. Show them they did the right thing by heading there early tonight for Zane Carney. The dude has an amazing set of pipes, as evidenced by his role-that-never-was on Broadway as Spiderman. He ain't too bad to look at either, so you might notice a lot of swooning ladies in the crowd. Meanwhile, Texas funk band Brownout has reimagined instrumental versions of Public Enemy's "Fear of a Black Planet" with their own funky spin. For Boomers or fans of early rock & roll, Eric Burdon & the Animals play at Humphreys, while country fans can catch the Highwayman Show celebrating Waylon Jennings' birthday at the Belly Up. There are great shows all over town, so get out and give your ears the gift of music.
