Sounds Like San Diego: June 1

Greg Laswell, a long-time San Diego favorite, returns to town for a show at the Belly Up Friday

San Diego has a problem: When our musicians get noticed outside of our region, they "hit the bigtime," or just get offered bigger opportunities, we should be better about supporting them, not begrudging them when they choose to leave or move or find success elsewhere. We should love and support and welcome when such artists return. Such is the case for Greg Laswell. A regular at Lestat's for ages, Greg was kind of always the saddest singer in the room, and for that reason, perhaps, easy to connect with. Last we heard he was in NYC, but wherever his journey has taken him, tonight he's back at the Belly Up, and if you're able, you should take the time to welcome him home. Meanwhile, local legends the Paladins rock the Casbah, Lord Huron play a second sold-out show at House of Blues, and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard play a sold-out show at the Observatory North Park.
