Sounds Like San Diego: August 5

The Midnight Pine lead the Redwoods Revue for Bay Sessions

The weekend is coming to an end, but your music options are plenty for a Sunday night. Natalie Merchant recently blew minds at Symphony Hall, but tonight you can catch her longtime band 10,000 Maniacs (fronted by Mary Ramsey) playing all of their classic tunes. Meanwhile, pop's top ginger Ed Sheeran will have lots of little girls' hearts swooning at Valley View Casino Center, while Metallica takes the field at Petco Park. My pick, however, is keeping it local. Last year's Bay Sessions offered scenic panoramas of San Diego Bay, the sunset over the ocean and a free show. The season is back and kicks off with Redwoods bands like Midnight Pine, Cardinal Moon, Birdy and more. You can't beat the view, and you can't beat free.
