Marines Welcomed Home

More than 250 Marines and sailors celebrated a long-awaited homecoming Tuesday at MCAS Miramar.

Marines and sailors with the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing returned from deployment serving Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Some military in the squadron helped with communications and IT. Some of the Marines and sailors were deployed for twelve months.

One Marine in particular got a special surprise upon his return - a brand new baby girl.

“Yes, a very special homecoming, the best homecoming yet. He's been looking forward to meeting her for a long time," said Marine wife Liz Morris.

Her husband was actually on the phone with her in Iraq when she was in labor and was able to her the baby's first cries. The couple also exchanged pictures every day.
