Get Dirty at the Del Mar Mud Run

The muddy fun continues this fall as the Fairgrounds are once again transformed into a sloppy mess for the 2nd Annual Del Mar Mud Run. Participants are encouraged to get down and dirty while completing a five-kilometer course, made more difficult with cold blasts from fire hoses, hay bail obstacles, tire wall climbs and mud-filled tunnels. Modeled after the grueling Camp Pendelton Mud Run, this race course is relatively short and easy, and more importantly, doesn't include screaming Marines at every turn. Extra awards are given to the best costumes of each heat before the race begins because—let's be honest—no one will see that '80s neon under all that mud. All runners will also receive a free beer at the MudFest after-party—finally, a reason to exercise!—which includes live music, food and a vendor village.

Registration is $50 for individuals, or $185 per team, but prices will go up after August 12. Saturday, October 15, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
