If you've never had a Japanese-style Mexican taco then you haven't been to the Japanese Cultural Bazaar. And this year's event on Sunday is bringing back the high-energy taiko group at the Buddhist Temple of San Diego.
Taiko are Japanese drums that often have been compared to the sound of thunder.
"It's very exciting and very significant to Buddhism", says Joyce Teague, spokesperson for the annual bazaar, which began in the 1960's.
It's a free event and family-friendly. There will be contemporary R & B with a Hawaiian flare and other performers.
"The second most popular part of the bazaar is the food", adds Teague.
There will be old-fashioned pan-fried noodles Cantonese-style, which is hard to find these days she says. Sushi and beef curry are also popular grazing items. But one of the highlights is Japanese-Mexican tacos and tofu tacos made by "Angie" who is Japanese-American, born south of the border says Teague.
