Dave, Shelley and Chainsaw Dropped from KGB

Early Monday morning, the activity on Twitter spread the news. Dave, Shelley and Chainsaw - longtime morning drive personalities on San Diego's classic rock radio station 101KGB - were no longer on the air.

@chriscantore posted "really?!? this is getting nutz ... RT @marklarsonradio: Dave Shelly and Chainsaw OFF KGB-FM.... couldn't come to a contract arrangement."

Confirmation of the reports is visible on the home page of 101KGB: "After extensive negotiations, and offering the DSC team a very lucrative, multi-year offer, we were unfortunately not able to reach an agreement to keep the show with KGB."

"We wish Dave, Shelley and Chainsaw all the best in their future pursuits and thank them for their contribution to the station," said the statement posted on KGB's website.

Dave Rickards contacted NBC San Diego and couldn't say much about why the show was taken off the air. Rickards said he was told of the cancellation over the weekend.

"We want to be on KGB. We want to finish our careers there. We hope that can still happen, but that looks unlikely," Rickards said.

The station was the home for the morning show from 5 to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday.

"The DSC are always at the top of the ratings chart and they’ve been making San Diegans laugh for the past 20 years," the station touted in the recent Best Summer Tunes Golden Local on NBCSanDiego.com.

When pitted against 91X, KGB won with votes and comments from fans like Pam who wrote "I have been listening to the DSC since they took over for Berger and Prescott in the 80s! Oh Craig...."

Another fan, Debbie, posted this comment about the show: "I have been listening to the DSC for over 20 years, they are the best radio program in the morning. They make a bad day into a good day. Thanks DSC, Ruthie and Boyer, they are a blast."

In August, the Jeff and Jer Morning Show ended four years at Star 94.1. Since the end of their contract, Jeff and Jer have referred to themselves as "radio orphans." The longtime radio team are doing their show online from Jerry's garage.
