The Del Mar Racetrack announced its 2017 summer concert series lineup on Tuesday morning -- and it's even better than last year.
The scenic track situated where the turf meets the surf will be hosting some of music's most iconic and in-demand artists on the planet come the long-awaited summer months. It all kicks off July 21 with the award-winning reggae/rock group Tribal Seeds -- who hail from right here in San Diego! Next up -- and always a sell-out scenario -- the rock & roll stalwarts of the Violent Femmes will be performing on July 28.
August and September hold even more in store as summer hits full swing. The glam rockers Eagles of Death Metal play Aug. 4, while country music star Billy Currington plays Aug. 5. The next week, Aug. 11 boasts a "special guest" to be named at a later date (who could it be!?!), Aug. 12 features rapper/actor extraordinaire Ludacris; Steel Pulse get the positive vibes flowing on Aug. 18; Lord Huron tap into a more atmospheric indie-folk scene on Aug. 25; and the previously announced hometown heroes Slightly Stoopid hit the stage on Aug. 26.
Food. Fun. Lifestyle. Features. All in America's Finest City.
The track closes out the lineup with a huge finale: The Americana jam band the Revivalists are sure to get the sing-alongs going on Sept. 1, and EDM superstar DJ/producer Steve Aoki returns to man the decks -- and deliver the cake -- on Sept. 3.
All concerts take place after the last races of the day and are always free for patrons of the track. Otherwise, tickets are $20 if fans get there after the last race has occurred. For more information, please visit DMTC.com.
