I Got You, Gabe

I try to leave one weekend a month open so I can check out live bands and DJs in San Diego. It's gotten so difficult for me to get out during the week that once the third weekend comes around, I really look forward to it.

One of the live shows on my radar Friday night is the Burning of Rome, the Nervous Wreckords, the New Kinetics and the debut of Okapi Sun at the Casbah. The Burning of Rome will be premiering their brand new video on this night. Elsewhere, the Oingo Boingo tribute band Dead Man’s Party hits the Belly Up. One of my favorite indie/Britpop DJ nights, F---ing in the Bushes, is at the Whistle Stop, with DJs Rob Moran and Daniel Sant. El Puro Party is happening at El Camino, with DJs Adam Salter and Mike Delgado. Voyeur features Hot Mouth and FYOR, and there’s no cover before 10:30 p.m. when you RSVP.

This Saturday, things will be heating up on the dance floor at Diamond Dust. May Star hosts this monthly dance party at the Flame, which features two rooms and a fashion show. Grab more details here. At El Dorado, it’s Boys & Girls, with DJs Jerome LOL, Adam Salter and Blancnoire. There’s no cover before 11 p.m. when you RSVPAmplified Access is back at House of Blues, starting with the heavy-hitting big-room sounds of Marcel Woods. Organized Grime will be hosting the side room with two rooms of electronic dance music. At the Whistle Stop its '80s vs. ‘90s, with DJs Gabe Vega and guests, plus Saul’s almost-birthday party. LED presents Fareoh and Brazzabelle at Voyeur. There’s no cover before 10:30 p.m. when you RSVP. Plus, Neon Beat, featuring the best and worst of the '80s, is at Bar Pink.

Here’s to another fantastic weekend in San Diego, and I’ll see you on the dance floor!
