Sergio Flores is part of the NBC 7 Responds and Telemundo 20 Responde team. The consumer investigative unit is committed to responding to every call and email received from viewers with consumer complaints.
His work has been recognized with an Emmy Award for investigations into fraud targeting people crossing the border from Tijuana to San Diego.
Sergio and the NBC 7 Responds and Telemundo 20 Responde team are dedicated to listening to viewers’ stories, conducting investigations, and gathering the documentation needed to help resolve cases — regardless of immigration status.
Before joining NBC 7 and Telemundo 20, Sergio worked for Univision 19 in Sacramento, where he served as a multimedia journalist, producer, news anchor, and correspondent at the California State Capitol. During his time there, he received 16 Emmy Awards in various categories.
He also worked as a news anchor and reporter for Telemundo 17 and NBC 17 in Bakersfield, where he earned two regional awards recognizing him as Best Reporter, regardless of language.
Sergio was born in Guadalupe Victoria, near Mexicali, the capital of Baja California. He began his journalism career at the Imperial Valley Press in El Centro, California. Today, he is proud to serve the San Diego community as part of the NBC 7 and Telemundo 20 news team.
