- tq average burgers at best. No real flavor in the meat, but the burger was huge, if you like that. Personally, I would rather have something that tastes amazing over something that was gigantic. Restaurant itself was small and smelled awful, like sweaty bodies. Employees were dirty and looked as though they hadn't showered in a couple days. Total riff raff. - Jason in Oceanside Been to Hodad's 6 times now in the past 3 weeks. I wanted to make a point of testing out their consistency in serving a great burger. Yeah, it's awesome - but is it consistently awesome? The short answer (based on my limited experience) - is No. On 3 occasions I had an very enjoyable experience. Burger was hot and juicy and the fries were to perfection. The other 3 experience ranged from OK to really bad...and by really bad I mean literally cold burger and fries....the cheese was not melted in the least, and the bun was soggy. The meat patty looked and tasted like what I would expect from the warming bins at McD's. Would I go back? YES - just on the chance they get it right! Oh - the shakes are truely THE BEST. ...
