The American Cancer Society will host its annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Balboa Park on October 18, 2009. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and the walk begins at 8:30 a.m. Both registration and the start of the walk are located on the corner of 6th and Laurel. Get the chance to meet NBC 7/39 news team member, Susan Taylor, as she emcees the event.
This walk represents more than just the steps that we take and the distance we travel, but as the
American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer says it “describes the progress we’re making together to fight this disease, provide comfort and hope, and save lives from breast cancer.” With each step we take, we walk towards a future free of breast cancer.
The American Cancer Society encourages you to spend time after the walk and enjoy the live music and entertainment starting at 10 a.m. and experience the continuous feelings of inspiration and hope throughout the day. Visit the various tents that will be set up in
Balboa Park including the Survivor and Friends Tent, the Youth Against Breast Cancer Tent and the Hope Starts Here Tent.
Join us here at
NBC 7/39 and our very own team participating in the walk, Peacock Pride, in Balboa Park on October 18
th and represent a family member that you know who is affected, remember a friend or to simply support the cause. Unite under the common goal to fight breast cancer and to save lives.
As ACS states, walk towards a future free of breast cancer.
