A Florida man was arrested Tuesday for swiping a $1.89 Snickers candy bar at a 7-Eleven — and police said he later apologized for wasting their time.

Edward A. Hodapp, 42, at first denied to cops that a large Snickers bar found in a pocket of his cargo shorts had come from the 7-Eleven, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.

But Hodapp failed to show a receipt for the item and the store’s security camera footage allegedly fingered him as the sticky-fingered culprit, the Sun-Sentinel reported, citing an arrest affidavit from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Hodapp then held out his hands to be cuffed, police said. On the way the way to jail, police said in their report, Hodapp told them he was “really sorry for wasting your and the clerk's time tonight...I should have just stayed at home.”
