One Week Away

It starts for real for the Padres a week from tonight. They host the Dodgers next Sunday night at Petco Park and what happened today against the Rangers was encouraging. The Padres won 11-7.

Some players they’re counting on are getting some good hacks. Chase Headley had a couple doubles as did Xavier Nady. Carlos Quentin and Will Venable homered and that all happened in the first three innings.

The Padres are now 8-12 with five ties this spring.  They have three more games this week in Arizona before a day off Thursday. They’re at Fowler Park at USD for games against the Cleveland Indians Friday night and Saturday afternoon.

Andrew Cashner will be on the mound for the opener against the Dodgers.

Padres manager Buddy Black announced the rest of the starting rotation for the Padres Opening Series against the Dodgers. RHP Ian Kennedy will  start on Tuesday, April 1.   Tyson Ross gets the start on Wednesday, April 2.
