A college basketball payer went on a naked rampage, assaulting women and carjacking a cop after learning he'd been cut from his team, police said.
Leonard Young was charged with carjacking, resisting arrest, vandalism, harming a police dog and being under the influence of a controlled substance after the spree, which was triggered by his getting kicked off the Fresno Pacific University basketball team, according to the Fresno Bee. The six-foot guard had transferred from Coppin State, in Maryland.
Young's former teammates told cops he trashed his apartment after getting dropped, then ran out into the streets of Fresno naked. He assaulted two women in the parking lot of a gas station, according to witnesses, then shoved a cop out of his way and jumped into his squad car. With Officer Brian Sturgeon hanging on and grappling with Young while trying to hit the brakes, Young allegedly drove the car a short distance before other police arrived.
They tasered him, according to police, but could not get him out of the car until they hit his wrist with a flashlight.
Young, who is from Philadelphia, was dismissed from the team for an undisclosed violation of team rules.
"We are extremely concerned about what happened and very saddened that it even occurred," school Athletic Director Dennis Janzen said. "At this point, Lenny is no longer a member of the team."
