Woman's Body Found in Encinitas Home

Police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in an Encinitas home early Monday morning.

The unidentified woman, in her late 40s was found just after 2 a.m. in the 1400 block of Spanish Bay Court in an upscale neighborhood.

Emergency responders tried to resuscitate the woman, but the lifesaving attempts failed and she died at the home, police said.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department's homicide detail was called in to investigate.

Sheriff's officials said most of the family that lived in the home was on vacation and that the woman may have been a visitor or guest the homeowner knew.

Neighbors told NBC 7 that there was no sign of a break in and they did not hear any noise or see anything unusual prior to the arrival of the fire department and sheriffs.

Investigators worked through the morning collecting any possible evidence.

Further details on the woman's death were not immediately revealed.
