Escondido police say an 11-year-old Escondido girl reported missing late Monday has been found safe.
The girl was last seen around 8:30 p.m. Monday walking with a friend away from a home at 1501 E. Grand Avenue.
When the girl did not come home by 11:00 pm or called to check in, her mother called and reported her missing Escondido police said.
Officials sent out a reverse 911 call to area residents and went door-to-door looking for the child.
Police considered the child a missing person at risk based on her age alone. Her mother told police that her daughter's actions were very unusual.
