Turns out some San Diegans don’t have to travel far to get to work. A study released by Carlsbad researchers revealed that San Diego County leads the nation in telecommuting.

The county’s overall telecommute rate was 4.2 percent in 2009, our media partner the North County Times reports. San Francisco came in at 3.2 percent, Seattle at 3 percent and Phoenix at 2.9 percent. Other major cities such as Los Angeles and Washington have a 2.6 percent telecommute rate.

The study shows the national average to be 2.3 percent.
