Three people had to be rescued from a wrecked car after leading police on a high speed chase in the South Bay.

The chase started in the City Heights area around 10 p.m. Thursday after a San Diego police officer tried to pull over suspect who was considered armed and dangerous.

The pursuit ended on the Highland Avenue off-ramp from east bound State Route 54 in National City.

The driver lost control and the vehicle rolled down an embankment.

All three people inside and a dog had to be rescued.
