Decades after she killed her own baby, a South County woman is back in jail for another crime.
Lorenza Penguelly, 51, was arrested Monday after police say she stabbed her mother in the face eight times.
Twenty-five years ago, Penguelly drowned her infant daughter by throwing her into the San Diego Bay.
Penguelly, who was then 26, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter. She was sentenced to six years in prison and was sent to Patton State Hospital for psychiatric treatment.
Her attorneys, at the time argued she was suffering from postpartum psychosis.
Penguelly's mother is expected to recover.
