A man was arrested Thursday morning in connection with a murder Wednesday night in front of a Spring Valley home.

At about 5:50 a.m., San Diego Regional Fugitive Task Force detectives arrested Hector Ivan Hernandez-Romero in the 3200 block of Central Avenue in Spring Valley. He will be booked on one count of murder.

A 30-year-old man, whose name has not been released pending next-of-kin notification, was stabbed after answering the door at the home in the 700 block of Sacramento Avenue near San Francisco Street around 8 p.m., sheriff's deputies said.

They said when an acquaintance of both the resident and the victim arrived unannounced at the front door, a short discussion quickly escalated into a knife assault.

The victim was pronounced dead less than an hour later by emergency crews at the scene.
