Man Discovered in Motel Room with Suspicious Injuries

Man found in motel with head injuries

A man found in a La Jolla motel early Tuesday morning with a suspicious head injury is not expected to survive, police said Wednesday.

The 52-year-old's roommates called the Fire Department Tuesday morning at about 12:20 a.m. from a motel in the 6700 block of La Jolla Boulevard, saying he was in need of medical assistance.

The man was transported to the hospital. Later that morning, medical staff reported an unexplained internal head injury, according to the San Diego Police Department.

The man was placed on life support and is not expected to recover.

Detectives are notifying the man's family and will not release his identity until that happens.

The San Diego Police Department's Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation. No suspects have been arrested and no suspicious items were recovered on the scene.

Detectives processed the motel room and are currently looking for witnesses. Anyone with information is urged to call the Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
