Billy Corgan On Simpson Rumors: ‘It's Like Being In A Cartoon'

Jessica Simpson and Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan faced rumors of a romantic link last year, but the rocker told the Chicago Tribune that the reports were far from "reality."

"The stuff that I've seen doesn't have any bearing to the reality that I'm in," he said, neither confirming nor denying their rumored past love connection. "It's like being in a cartoon. It has nothing to do with what's really going on or how I feel."

But the singer did tell the newspaper that Jessica herself reached out to him to work on the theme song for her new VH1 reality show, "The Price of Beauty."

"I ended up writing part of [the theme song]," he said. "She asked me to help her out… It has a little bit of an alternative rock edge, but it's still very pop-y.

And Billy, who's currently releasing new Smashing Pumpkins tracks for free via his Web site, praised Jessica's latest venture.

"[It] has an interesting concept," he said. "She goes around the world to show how different people perceive beauty. In some cultures, bigger is better. In some, smaller is better."

Reports that the two were dating emerged in December, when a source told E! Online that Jessica was "smitten" with the alternative rock icon. Jessica later Tweeted about their time in the studio working on the theme song.

"Fun to be lost in laughter," she Tweeted at the time. "I am blessed."

However, in January, Us Weekly reported that the two had split.
