91X's Robin Roth breaks down the weekend shows for you -- including a book release party for the man from a million bands, Al Howard.

Friday, one of my favorite people in San Diego, Al Howard, is having his book release party at the Merrow, and the evening will feature performances from local bands the Cold Fact, the Heavy Guilt, the Midnight Pine, Erik Canzona & the Narrows, the Black Sands and Birdy Bardot. Elsewhere, the Burning of Rome, the Gods of Science and Shady Francos take over Soda Bar; local singer/songwriter Gregory Page and Tom Brosseau perform at the Museum of Making Music; Hip Hop vs. Punk Rock is at the Tower Bar; and Supersuckers, Streetwalkin’ Cheetahs and Screamin’ Yeehaws are at the Casbah. Head to Bang Bang to get your dance on with Goldroom + Boys Don’t Disco; and the Chainsmokers take over Bassmnt.

Saturday, start with the Vinyl Junkies Record Swap at the Casbah. Later that night, join me at Club Ascension as the Kava Lounge celebrates its 10-year anniversary all month. DJs Dark Angel, LadyNoir and yours truly will be spinning the best in dark underground music -- you can get more details here. Zen Freeman is at Bang Bang; and Gladiator & Julian Jordan hit Bassmnt. Get your live-music fix with Moving Units, All Leather, Qui and Secret Fun Club at Brick By Brick; Billy Bones is headlining at the Tower Bar; and Horse Feathers, the Midnight Pine and Sara-Jackson Holman are at the Casbah.

Kick off your Sunday fun day with the SoNo Fest and Chili Cook-Off event in North Park, which will feature the Creepy Creeps, Unsteady, the Bed Breakers, the Loons, the Rosalyns, the Nards and more; K-Flay and Night Riots play a free show at the House of Blues in the Voodoo Room; the Ataris, the Gods Of Science and Floodlove take over the Casbah; Tristan Prettyman and Eric Hutchinson are also at the House of Blues, on the main stage; or you can check out Bar Pink’s Cool Yule Holiday Prom

Have a great weekend and I’ll see you on the dance floor!
