The beautiful beards of Map and Atlases return to teach San Diego some algebra through their music.

After quite a hiatus -- at least from San Diego -- Maps and Atlases return for the second time in 2010. Just a couple months ago, they were opening for Frightened Rabbit to the sold-out crowd at the Casbah, but before that it had been a couple years since they swung through San Diego. They've made up for it now with a debut record on Barsuk called Perch Patchwork. Their music has always had elements of math rock and prog, but they're accessible with their pop sensibilities, too. Buzz bands the Globes and Cults kick off the night.
