Over the last year, many San Diego musicians have embraced Twitter as a vehicle to promote, sell and distribute content. Additionally, some use the platform brilliantly as a virtual backstage pass into their daily lives (enhancing fan loyalty).

Every week, we scour the Twitter feeds of local musicians and highlight some of our faves, with the Top 5 Music tweets of the week.
Here are this week's entries:

1. Burning of Rome said goodbye to the great Dennis Hopper with a YouTube clip from Blue Velvet (not safe for work): "Adios: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJtGCvKpEWM"

2. The Silent Comedy posted a picture of the San Diego band Transfer sound-checking before their sold-out show at Birch North Park Theatre: "Transfer's soundcheck... It's going to be epic!!!!! http://bit.ly/ cYz1OA"

3. One of my favorite tweeters, Steve Poltz, shared his thoughts on Russian ballet: "I wonder if it's too late for me to learn ballet? I want to dance in Russia at the Bolshoi Academy. I think I can do it. I KNOW I can do it."

4. Jon Foreman of Switchfoot checked in far away from Moonlight Beach in Encinitas: "Hanging out in a castle in England is not standard fare for me ... I'm feeling out of place and enjoying it."

5.  Tristan Prettyman shared her bed with a new friend: "omg. been spooning the cat all night, so snuggly and purrry ... who knew I liked cats...?"
