Cables suck. That's why the advent of wireless charging is so great: it promises a world in which nothing ever has to be plugged in to anything else. And one company's work could allow Apple to cut even more cords from the iMac.
WiTricity, which is developing magnetic resonance charging tech based on MIT research, is now showing off an iMac modified to charge up a wireless keyboard and mouse as well as a tablet, all by just placing them near the computer. With the charging apparatus built into the bottom of the iMac, these devices automatically get their power from it, no cords required.
It's pretty awesome, really, and something that I expect we'll see sooner or later. Hopefully sooner. Check out the video below at about the 4:00 mark to see the iMac in action.
