The San Diego football landscape is suddenly filling up with teams, as the San Diego Strike Force are the latest professional football team to call San Diego home.
The Strike Force are an arena football team that will play in the Indoor Football League (IFL). The IFL is a 10-team league that will play a 14 game schedule.
San Diego will play its first IFL game when it faces the Quad City Steamwheelers in Moline, Illinois on Friday, February 22, 2019. The Strike Force will play their first home game at Pechanga Arena on March 3 against the Tucson Sugar Skulls.
The Strike Force join the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of American Football (AAF) as the second professional football team to come to San Diego since the Chargers departure in January of 2016.
Strike Force Team President Greg Anderson said, “I’m extremely excited to bring the Strike Force and the Indoor Football League to Pechanga Arena and the great football city of San Diego. Getting to this point took a lot of hard work and dedication and from here on out, our number one goal is to deliver a championship caliber team both on and off the field to San Diego.”
Former NFL player Ameer Ismail will be the team's head coach, while Brian Cox will serve as the Strike Force General Manager.
