Players Make Practice

The Chargers got some encouraging news regarding three key players for Sunday's home game against the visiting Oakland Raiders.

Pro Bowl tight end Antonio Gates, wide receiver Malcom Floyd and running back Mike Tolbert participated in practice.

Gates, who missed two of the last three games with a torn plantar fascia in his right foot, practiced for the first time this week, in a limited role. He likely won't know his status until the hours leading to kickoff.

Tolbert practiced for the first time this week as swelling in his bruised hand had prevented him from participating Wednesday or Thursday. Tolbert is the team's leading rushing and has nine touchdowns.

Floyd, bothered by a hamstring injury, participated in the full practice.
