Chargers Add, Subtract

In a move expected by most observers the Chargers added another defensive tackle in five year veteran Ricardo Mathews. To make room for him on the roster the Bolts waived running back Marion Grice.

Mathews stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 300 pounds. He was a seventh round pick by Indianapolis back in 2010. Mathews played four seasons with the Colts before signing with Houston this off-season. In his four years at Indy Mathews recorded 51 tackles with 1.5 sacks.

Grice, a sixth round draft pick out of Arizona State, will likely end up on the Chargers practice squad.

In other news, practice squad quarterback and former Aztec Ryan Lindley worked out with his new team for the first time on Monday.

Head coach Mike McCoy dismissed any suggestions that Lindley was added to the roster for the express purpose of lending some insight into the Arizona offense.

Lindley is reunited with Frank Reich, the Chargers offensive coordinator. They were together for two years with the Cardinals.
