The Aztecs are headed home from the Big Apple after SDSU's most successful season is cut short one game too soon.
Baylor won their semifinal matchup 76-62 Tuesday night and will head into the National Invitational Tournament (NIT) championship.
"We got beat by a very good team," said SDSU coach Steve Fisher.
Some of their biggest fans that night were a group of students who made the cross-country trip, along with two of SDSU's most famous athletes: Retired NFL star Marshall Fauld and New England Patriots player Kevin O'Connell.
Despite the rowdy fan club, the Aztecs couldn't hold off Baylor. But, despite their loss Tuesday night, the Aztecs should feel very proud of themselves; their breakout season was the best in the schools history.
They entered the NIT as one of it's top seeds, then eliminated Weber State, Kansas State and Saint Mary's.
